Handing the phone to a kid
Roller mode — a locked, stripped-down screen the kid uses on the route.
Roller mode is the kid's view of today's route. It has no navigation, no money, no customer contact details, and it can be locked with a PIN so it can't be backed out of.
Before the first run
Set a roller PIN in Settings — four digits. Without one you can still open roller mode, but you can't lock it.
Starting a run
From your operator home, open Roller. You'll see the day and its stops, then two ways in:
- Start & lock — the one to use. The kid can't leave roller mode without the PIN, so the phone is safe to hand over.
- Open without lock — for checking the route yourself.
What the kid does
Each stop is a card: the address, the cans, and a big button. Roll to street in the evening; Bring back in the next day. If you've asked for photos, they'll be prompted to take one at each step.
When every stop is done they get a bit of confetti, which turns out to matter more than you'd expect.
Ending a run
Unlock with the PIN to exit. There's no time limit — a locked phone can sit in a pocket between the evening roll-out and the next afternoon.
Choose a PIN the kid doesn't know. The lock exists so a phone handed over stays on this one screen.
The kid's own version of these instructions is at the roller quick guide — worth reading through with them once.
