Your public page and flyer

A page of your own, and a printable QR flyer to put on doors.

Most of your customers will come from the neighborhood, not from search. The flyer is the tool for that.

Your public page

Turn on the public profile in Settings and you get a page at your own address — /b/your-business-name — showing your business name, photo, the kids' first names if you want them there, your services and prices, and a coverage check.

It's a normal web page. You can text the link, put it in a neighborhood group, or print it on a flyer.

The printable flyer

Marketing → Flyer builds a half-page flyer with a QR code pointing at your page. Print it two to a sheet, cut down the dashed line, and the kids have a stack to hand out.

Pick a style

Three, and they differ in how each treats your crew photo:

  • Bold — a big headline you can read from the sidewalk. Works with a photo or without; without one, three short steps take its place.
  • Friendly — leads with the photo. Only offered once you've uploaded one.
  • Clean — quiet and typographic, no photo at all.

Pick an accent colour if you like, but you don't have to think about it: every style is designed to read in plain black and white, because most people print a hundred of these without colour.

The flyer builder: three styles to choose from, an accent colour, and switches for what appears on the flyer

Choose what it shows

Your prices, description, and the kids' and parent's names are on by default, and each has a switch. A switch is greyed out when there's nothing to show yet — add it on your public page first.

You're responsible for having permission to put a child's photo or name on a flyer strangers will keep — a photo you were happy to put on a web page isn't automatically one you want on paper on a hundred doors.

Your address and phone are off unless you turn them on. Anything you switch on gets printed on every copy the kids hand out, and a printed flyer can't be taken back. The phone is a number you type in here on purpose — we never use the one you log in with. It's punctuated as you type, so what gets printed is a number someone can read off a door and dial.

The preview on the right is the real thing at the real size, crew photo and all — what you see there is what comes out of the printer. Change anything and it updates straight away, but nothing is written down until you press Save changes — so you can put your address on, see how it looks, and take it off again without having published anything.

Download 2 per page gives you one letter sheet, sideways, with two flyers side by side and a dashed line down the middle. That's the one to use at home. Single flyer gives you one half-sheet on its own, for a print shop.

Hang each flyer on a door handle, wedge it in the frame, or leave it on the porch. Never put one inside a mailbox — unstamped material in a mailbox breaks federal law and the fine lands on you, not the kids.

Someone who scans it lands on your page, checks their address against your coverage, and — if they're in it — starts service with you specifically rather than choosing from a list.

What to fill in first

  • A photo. A picture of the actual kids with actual cans beats anything else on the page.
  • Your services, with real prices. A flyer without a price gets fewer calls, not more.
  • The description — two sentences on which streets you cover and when you roll.

Check the page before you print a hundred of them. Open your own /b/ link on a phone and run the address check as a neighbor would.
